Quote

Well, I am a sucker for quotes, I love them, and I try to live by them. I feel like they are a 2 second input on how one should or could view the world. I must admit my nerdyness for a moment, I am one of those people that hover over a quote, staring at it, trying to absorb it as much as I can. I think they are brilliant.

This quote, my roommate that I had while I was living in Rome found in her textbook, of all places:
"Baths, Wine and Love-making destroy our bodies, yet Love-making, Wine and Baths make life worth living.- Palatine Anthology"
My roommate read me this quote, and I instantly fell in love with it. It remains on my desktop and I must catch myself reading it a couple times a day. It is simple, yet complex at the same time. The things that we love in this world, destroy our bodies, yet with out them, we don't have a body to then destroy, but rather our minds would deteriorate. We live our lives from one material thing to another, one passion to another, but we don't stop to think how these things, catching up to us, can hurt us. How they things we love can also be our kryptonite. How sometimes, the person we love, can also be our kryptonite.

This quote is not romantic one, it is not Shakespeare, nor is it a Corinthians quote either. But it does have the impact as those do, it is still very very deep. I look at it everyday, trying to see how it applies to my life this day. What am I doing that feels so natural to me is killing me? Yet, what is killing me that feels so natural?

And with that, I sign off.
